PURPOSE: To obtain high resolution and the excellent SN ratio by arranging a means to select a given focus depth in a tissue whose image is picked up over a focus depth range, and controlling transducer pulsers by simultaneously reading out data rows from data blocks read out of a memory. CONSTITUTION: A memory is arranged to store data blocks which have plural data rows and are composed of a single or plural pulse rows which can be read out in the given time relationship to the other data row in the same data blocks. An address is designated for a give data block among the data blocks in the memory in a CPU according to operation of a means (joy stick control part) to select a given focus depth in a tissue whose image is picked up over a focus depth range. Data rows are simultaneously read out of this address- designated data block, and transducer pulsers P1 to P4 are controlled, and elements 10, 12, 14 and 16 of a transducer are excited. |
