<p>Prepn. of 2-halophenylaminoimidazolines (I) At least 1 R = halogen; the others = H and/or halogen. As hypotensives. Gives good yields of pure products. A mixt. of ethylene diamine mono-p-toluene-sulphonate (91.5g), 2, 6-dichlorophenylcyanamide (29.5g) and a mixt. of tech. C5-C7 alcohols (1.2 1) is refluxed for 5 hr. After cooling overnight, sepd. cryst. material is removed, the filtrate evapd. and the residue heated for 5 min. with HCl (1:1; 59 ml) and then evapd. to yield 2-(2', 6'-dichlorophenylamino)-2-imidazoline. HCl (29.8g), m.p. 305-310 deg.; base m.p. 141-3 deg.</p> |
