PURPOSE: To precisely position an inflator with a positionnig tool by providing a installing stud on a end portion of the inflator, and inserting the positioning tool provided with a means for engaging with the installing stud from an end wall of an airbag reaction can. CONSTITUTION: When assembling an inflator 10 to a reaction can C, a positioning tool 12 is inserted in a keyed opening formed on an end wall of the reaction can C, and a conical part 46 in a tip end of a positioning pin 42 thereof is engaged with a receiving part 28 of an installing stud 14 of the inflator 10, thereby positioning the inflator 10 in line with respect to the axis of the tool 12. Then, the inflator 10 is rotated until a diametrical slot on the stud 14 end surface receives a rib 40 of the tool 12, and simultaneously a tip end of a positioning rail 52 is abutted on a shoulder part 20 of a key 16. Subsequently, the inflator 10 is moved forward (left way), and the positioning tool 12 is moved backward to remove the positioning tool 12 and screw a nut in an installing post 22, thereby mounting the inflator 10 at a proper position. |
