PURPOSE:To obtain a bisresorcine useful as a modifier for positive type photoresists in high purity and selectivity with scarcely containing a structural isomer by reacting a 4-substituted resorcine with an aldehyde. CONSTITUTION:This compound is obtained by reacting (A) 4-substituted resorcines obtained by substituting 4 position of a benzene ring with a (cyclo) alkyl, a (cyclo) alkenyl, an aryl, an alkoxy, etc., with (B) aldehydes such as an aromatic aldehyde in the presence of (C) an acid catalyst such as an inorganic acid or a hetero polyacid. |
