摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance and vibration resistance of a tool by providing an upper layer made of a diamond base sintered material and an intermediate layer made of a tungsten sintered material. CONSTITUTION:A cutting tool contains 1-20 volume % of a very fine distributed phase of uniform distribution consisting of one or more chosen from among carbonates of Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba, complex carbonates consisting of at least two of the carbonates, carbonates of Co, Fe, Ni, and Mn, and the complex carbonates consisting of at least two carbonates. An upper layer made of diamond base sintered material consisting of diamond forming the base, an intermediate layer formed of W sintered material consisting of W and/or WC, and a lower layer formed of WC base cemented carbide are integrated with each other into an ultra-high pressure sintered body. When the ratio of distributed phase contained in the upper layer is less than 0.1vol.%, the accelerating effect of binding between each diamond powder at the time of sintering is insufficient, thus not satisfactorily achieving the excellent abrasion resistance proper to diamond.
