摘要 PURPOSE: To detect a specimen in the bloodstream of a living animal in the improved signal to noise ratio by irradiating a part of the body of the animal by the intensity-modulated light having a continuous spectrum, and detecting intensity of the light which is emitted from there and has plural wave length ranges. CONSTITUTION: A device 10 has a light source 15, and the output end of a bundle 25 of optical fibers is joined to a part 100 of the body of an animal. The light source 15 also has a chopper 20, and the chopper 20 alternately cuts off and does not cut off the light emitted from a light emitter 18, and the light emitted from the light source 15 is modulated on intensity in the shape of intensity to time of a rectangular wave shape. A bundle 30 of optical fibers for pickup transmits the light emitted from a part of the body to a spectrometer 35. In a signal which is focused on a detector 40 and is obtained from there, after at least a part of a noise is removed by a front end amplifier, an absorbance spectrum is obtained, and the concentration of a desired specimen in blood is detected from this.
