1,183,143. Pipe liners. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. 17 Jan., 1968, No. 2440/68. Heading F2P. [Also in Division F1] An arrangement for mounting a liner 20 within a gas duct 18, e.g. the jet pipe of a gas turbine jet propulsion engine, comprises a cylindrical member 36 locked by a bolt 52 to the duct 18 and having a flange 38 which supports the liner 20 by way of wire wool rings 44, 46. The liner has an inner skin 22 formed from panels of sound damping sintered porous metallic material which are stiffened by a honeycomb structure 26 attached to a cylindrical cover 28. The latter has a series of pockets 32 into each of which fits the flange 38 of a member 36, projections 40, 42 on the flange engaging slots 34 in the pocket 32. The rings 44, 46 of wire wool are retained in each pocket 32 on either side of the flange 38 by a plate 48 riveted to the lip of the pocket. The resilience of the wire wool damps vibrations whilst permitting the liner 20 to expand and contract.
