The method is saitable for quickly editing by moving the carriage swiftly when the printed content is corected or added. The method is composed of clearing the space counter (3) after moving the position of the memory pointer (2) to the mext letter when the word-space key is input; checking whether the memory-pointer indicating data from the data memory section is the space data; storing the printing-width data added with the content of the space counter (3) in the space counter; checking whether memory pointer (2) is reached to the end of the memory; storing the sum of the space counter data and carriage positioning buffer data in the buffer (6); moving the carriage according to the quantity of the space counter.
