Low-color bisphenols may be produced by a reacting phenol with an aliphatic aldehyde or ketone in the presence of a strong-acid cation exchange resin acting as an acid catalyst for the reaction, and of a small amount, relative to the acid catalyst, of a weak-base anion exchange resin.
