The DS3 signal frame is multiplexed with CEPT signal to construct DS3 frame structure so that 540 number of signals is transmitted from a central office to a terminal at the speed of 64 Kb/s. Two channels of 20.1312 Mb/s are accomodated by DS3 over head bit group (C, F, M, X, P bit) and payload bit so that the DS3 frame has 420 overhead bits.
