[Also in Division H5] The invention of the parent Specification, which concerns a bench for casting large concrete building units such as walls in a mould having an electrically heated metal base to assist the setting of the concrete, is modified by the electrical heating means being disposed in a removable unit underneath the mould. As shown, the bottom plate 21 of the bench is heated by a unit 32 comprising a plate 41 having a heating element 43 attached thereto. The plate 41 is supported by a frame 45 and located thereby in a box 33 containing insulating layers 36, 38, bolts 46 attaching the unit 32 to the bench-supporting framework (10). In a modification, the framework (10) comprises longitudinal members (11), (12) spaced apart by a series of cross-members (13), (14), each adjacent pair of which forms a section containing a heating unit which may be removed separately. In both embodiments the heating element 43 is not affected when the plate 21 is vibrated to produce a high-quality moulded aggregate. |
