1279114 Gas treating cartridges AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO Inc 10 Sept 1969 [10 Sept 1968] 44781/69 Headings B1L and BIT A cartridge for removing undesirable components from effluent gas in a nuclear installation comprises a generally U-shaped frame 1 (Fig. 1, not shown) whose open end is bridged by an apertured inlet plate 13 and whose sides are bridged by respective layers of adsorbent material confined between inner perforate plates 4 and outer perforate plates 9, reinforcing bars 17 extending through the plates and carrying washers and spring clips engaging grooves therein to maintain spacing of the plates. The frame and plates may be spotwelded or riveted together. Plates 9 could engage the upturned flanges (6) of plates 4. A stack of such cartridges may be mounted in individual holes in a frame (26) (Fig. 5, not shown), and gas flow could be in either direction. Sealing strips 22 may be provided. |
