HYDRAULIC STEERING CIRCUIT AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FOR THE CIRCUIT

In some steering systems, tractive forces occur in the hydraulic cylinder. If the cylinder is designed with a piston rod at one end only, the piston rod anticipates the steering motion in one steering direction. The result is uncontrolled steering characteristics, with all the dangers that this entails. The solution proposed to this problem consists in fitting, between the control valve (3) in the hydraulic control unit (1) and the space behind the piston head in the cylinder (2), a throttle (10) plus a by-pass line which negates the throttle function for hydraulic fluid passing towards the cylinder (2). The invention is intended for use in hydraulic steering-control units for low-speed vehicles.
