<p>A borehole decking plug which is created by a self-expanding plastic foam. Two closed waterproof pouches, an inner pouch (101) and an outer pouch (103), each contain a separate component (107, 109) of the foam. The inner pouch (101) is contained within the outer pouch (103), and both (101, 103) are contained within a third open external pouch (111) having a tether attachment (115, 125). Upon breaking the inner pouch (101), the separate foam components (107, 109) combine within the outer pouch (103) to form a complete expansion foam. The foam expands slowly enough to provide sufficient time for the device to be lowered via the tether (129) down a borehole to a preselected position. Once in position, the expansion foam bursts the outer pouch (103) and escapes upward through the external pouch (111) to form a deck plug at the preselected position.</p> |
