The high supported track (22) on the bridge (14) accommodates transport skips (24) for the building materials to be delivered or discharged. The skips are lifted and lowered by hoist mechanisms (15,16) at each end of the track. The bridge and mechanisms can be arranged to travel in the longitudinal direction of the road surface (10), and one of the mechanisms can consist of a portal crane travelling in this direction. The bridge can be assembled from a number of similar sections (17,17',17"), and the skips can consist of containers on travel chassis, and can be coupled together in a train.
