<p>An apparatus (1b) communicates with workstations (6-14) in a production apparatus (1a) to achieve optimum workstation utilisation by use of production control signals. The production control signals are generated by automatically determining an operations sequence for each physical location of a product, after design data for the product has been automatically generated. An operations sequence includes the specification for a raw material for the physical location and its subsequent processing. In this way, necessary production operations for a large number of different products may be automatically determined in an efficient manner. The production of windows and doors is described with workstations relating to sawing, welding, beading, glazing cutting, double glazing and kit assembly. <IMAGE></p> |
