LOADING AND UNLOADING SYSTEM FOR SHIPS AND SIMILAR LARGE CAPACITY TRANSPORT VEHICLES

The proposed loading and unloading system for ships (1) and similar large capacity transport vehicles comprising at least a conveyor bridge or pipe bridge (11) with a raising and lowering extension arm (17) and with at least one conveyor means extending lengthwise such as a band conveyor (12) or conveyor pipe for batches of cargo (7). Loading and unloading systems of this type have, on the one hand, a principal supporting structure to bridge the span distance and, on the other, a loading and unloading device mounted on the supporting structure. In order to achieve a considerable improvement in simplicity of construction and a reduction in weight, it is envisaged that for loading, a loading or unloading head (18, 18A) is provided on the side towards the ship or large capacity transport vehicle in question. The said loading or unloading head can travel along the extension arm (17). The raising and lowering extension arm (17) cannot travel along the conveyor bridge or pipe bridge (11), i.e. the loading and unloading device has a fixed anchor point in relation to the conveyor bridge or pipe bridge (11).
