Bone grinder for orthopaedic use

The grinder, consists of a grating cylinder (3) able to rotate inside a housing (1) equipped with a clamp (24) for fixing it to a support such as an operating table. The housing has a cylindrical recess to receive the grating cylinder which is inclined at an angle to the horizontal and completely open at its lower end (4). The opposite end of the housing has an aperture (5) for the cylinder's drive shaft (10, and it has an intake (18) at the top to receive the bone material. The grating cylinder has holes (9) with cutting edges, set around it in at least one spiral line, and its drive shaft (10), which is fitted to a base, passes through an anti-friction bush (7) in the housing and has a projecting tip (14) for a handle (15) or motorised drive. The upper part of the housing has an arm to hold the pivoted end of a lever (20) used to apply a pressure to a plunger (19) in the intake (18).
