HEAT-RESISTANT ACRYLIC SHORT FIBERS WITHOUT SPINNING

The fibers having thickness distribution 0.1˜50 microns, lenyth distribution 1˜20 mm, heat transformation temp. over 200 deg.C and solubility in dimethylformamide at room temp.below 5%, are prepared by: (1) heating mixture of 5˜100 % water and specified polymer to form amorphous melt at temp. above melting point of mixture under closed conditions; (2) cooling amorphous melt to temp. between melting point and solidifying temp. to form supercooled phase; (3) stand-extruding super cooled melt at room temp. and normal pressure through extruder with slit or round die into external atmosphere to form extrudate of die section; (4) passing extrudate under tension through 2 pressure rollers at 100˜180 deg.C; (5) drying and and stretching extrudate; (6) heat-stabilising extrudate by heating to 180˜300 deg.C for 1 min.˜4 hrs.; (7) cutting extrudate into suitable lengths; and mechanical beating.
