PURPOSE: To reduce a cost and to make a device small and thin in size by using a bidirectional driver IC of high breakdown voltage having both pull-up and pull-down function as an IC on the scanning side. CONSTITUTION: Bidirectional driver ICs of high breakdown voltage 20, 30 on the scanning side having a pull-up element applying a writing voltage of positive polarity and a pull-down element applying a writing voltage of negative polarity on electrodes X1 -Xi on the data side are connected to electrodes Y1 -Yi on the scanning side. Since the bidirectional driver ICs of high breakdown voltage 20, 30 themselves have no floating mode, by making a pull-up common line and a pull-down common line a floating mode by external switching circuits 200, 100, the electrodes Y1 -Yi on the scanning side are made to be a floating mode. Consequently, the driver ICs on the scanning side conventionally requiring two kinds are made to be one kind, the cost of the driving circuit is reduced, the packaging area of ICs is decreased and the device is made small in size and light in weight. |
