The delivery system for a gas with an oxygen content, into a furnace, has a number of horizontal rows of jets down to the lowest level. The vertical array of the horizontal rows allows the combustion to be intensified to the required level in the furnace, through setting the concentrations with the temp. along the horizontals together with the vertical gradients. Pref. at least two rows of jets over the lowest two rows have at least one jet at each level fed with a gas pressure through a common control. At least one jet at one of these levels is aligned to avoid a contact with the jet stream from an adjacent wall. Jets (13) fitted to facing walls (12), at least over the bottom two rows, are located and/or aligned vertically and/or laterally so that their projected axes (14) intersect without contact on a central line (15) through the system and parallel to the sides.
