Sheet transporters are secured on a revolving conveyor passing through the print works. The peripheral velocities of the cylinder surfaces and the conveyor are synchronised. The conveyor passes linearly through the print works on guideways. The conveyor consists of endless toothed racks of individual toothed rack pieces (13). For the drive purposes, the toothed rack pieces are in constant backlash-free mesh with gear wheels (11) circulating in a single direction, firmly coupled in each print work to a rubber blanket cylinder (10). With the machine at rest, the toothed rack pieces and the gear wheels and thus the sheet conveyor (3) can be engaged and disengaged by a servo-drive (25) at a precisely defined angular position of the rubber blanket and impression cylinders (12).
