System for underground laying of coupling pipes

An underground bore is made horizontally with a drilling head and then expanded once or more to a diameter equal to or larger than that of the pipes. The coupling pipes (6) are secured axially and drawn along inserted in each other. For this the pipes each have at the end a shaped pipe bell (9) in cross section having a diameter larger than that of the cylindrical pipe shaft (10) of the pipe. To draw in the pipe line a conical deflection sleeve (8) is mounted in front of the end edge (7) of the bell (9). The deflection sleeves can be formed as hollow truncated cones made of plastics-modified cement or similar and designed to slide onto the pipe shafts. The pipes can be made of cast iron.
