Joining system for main and secondary stacks in sheet delivery unit

The main stack (2) is driven up against the underneath of the support devices (6) holding the secondary stack (11) so that the strain on the support devices is registered whereupon the lifting movement of the main stack is stopped as the support devices relax against the direction of gravity. The secondary and main stacks are straightaway moved apart from each other until the support devices are again loaded whereupon the lifting movement of the main and secondary stacks is synchronised. After relaxation of the support devices the main stack is kept stationary until the support devices are loaded again owing to the lifting movement of the secondary stack.
