The valve body (14) is moulded or otherwise fixed to the hose (20), with a passage (16) through the hose wall. The thread of the screwed plug (22) runs in the insert (24) which is moulded into the body. The insert is circular, with internal fingers forming the path for the thread of the plug, and has extensions (28,30) to key with the moulded body. A groove (46), formed in the plug, allows the passage of air during bleeding. The head (40) of the plug seats on the moulded lip (42) to close the valve until the plug is unscrewed for bleeding.
