The filter bag has a bottom edge, two side edges and a filling side edge, partly coupled by embossing (17) along both side edges and the bottom edge. In continuous mfr., bags are stamped out from two superimposed material webs after embossing. The embossing and stamping are carried out in a single pass, with the bottom edge (12) alternating parallel to one or the other longitudinal edge (14) of the material webs (15). The bottom edges may coincide with longitudinal edges of the material webs.
