PURPOSE:To discharge at lower discharge voltage than conventional discharge voltage by using a mixed gas of He, Ne, and Xe as a discharging gas. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a gas discharge light emitting apparatus composed by arranging a first electrode 13 and a second electrode 25 opposite to each other while keeping spaces between them and sealing a gas for discharging in the spaces, a mixed gas of He, Be and Xe is used as the gas for discharging. By composing the apparatus in this way, the discharge voltage can be lowered as compared with that in the case a mixed gas of He and Xe as a gas for discharging. The mixed gas is preferably a mixture mainly consisting of Ne to which He and Xe are added. Practically, the mixing ratio of Ne is preferably 60-85% by volume percentage. Further, the pressure of the mixed gas is preferably set to be at highest 190Torr. |
