PURPOSE:To provide the method for directing the rotation of the three- dimensional object capable of easily setting the three-dimensional coordinates required to control the three-dimensional rotation by using the two-dimensional input device. CONSTITUTION:When the direction inputted from the mouse by a user is accepted, a rotating shaft r 105 and a rotating angle theta 106 which rotate the object three-dimensionally are calculated. In this case, the direction of the three- dimensional rotating shaft 105 is obtained from the normal direction of the plane decided by two points P1 and P2 located on a display 101 and a viewpoint 102 and the rotating angle theta 106 is decided from the distance between two points. Thus, the user can give the object a desired rotation to the object by simply 'rotating by holding with the mouse' a corner of the object displayed on the display device. |
