<p>PURPOSE:To provide a process for the production of a halogen-containing aniline from a halogen-containing nitrobenzene in high selectivity and yield by suppressing dehalogenation reaction. CONSTITUTION:This halogen-containing aniline is obtained by catalytic reduction of a halogen-containing nitrobenzene, e.g. a compound expressed by formula I to formula III (R<1> is F or Cl; R<2> is a 1-4C alkyl; R<3> is a 1-4C alkyl or a phenyl) in the presence of a precious-metal catalyst carried on a carrier, preferably palladium carried on active carbon or platinum carried on active carbon, with molecular hydrogen. This reaction is carried out in the presence of 0.1-100 pts.wt., preferably, 1-20 pts.wt. of a halogen-containing benzene based on the halogen-containing nitrobenzene. This process can reduce the burden of a purification process since no side reaction is accompanied and accordingly it is industrially advantageous.</p> |
