MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To relax the design specification of a magnetic tape drive control device by reducing a tape tension in the magnetic recording and reproducing device recording/reproducing while coded data are separated into base data and detailed data. CONSTITUTION:A video signal is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 2 and coded by a coding circuit 3. Then a data separate circuit 4 separated the coded signal into, base data and detailed data. A time division multiplex circuit 5 multiplexes the data so as to be record the detailed data to a first half of each track and the base data to the latter half and provides an output of the multiplexed data to a cylinder 28. The base data are extracted by a base data extraction circuit 8 at the time of searching. Then a base data decoding circuit 9 decodes a reproduction signal of the search side.
