PURPOSE:To improve the portability of an ink jet recorder by performing recording with a carrier's cover held open when a cartridge head with a large capacity ink tank is used, and with a carrier's cover held closed when one with a small capacity ink tank is used. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge head 1 is equipped with a large capacity ink tank 2 and the cover 3 of a recorder is opened. That is, since even a small recorder can be equipped with a large capacity ink tank, the number of sheets to be printed can be increased. In consequence, running costs can be reduced. In that case, raising the cover 3 upright will help prevent from colliding with the cartridge head 1 or a large capacity ink tank 2. On the other hand, the cover 3 will play the role of a protector to prevent other object from colliding with them. When a small capacity ink tank is loaded, recording can be performed with the cover held closed. |
