PURPOSE:To provide a process for production which facilitates mass production of fusion stretching type optical fiber parts. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge 2 is set on a stretching stage 7 in the state of previously holding an optical fiber bundle consisting of plural pieces of the optical fibers 1 on a pair of moving stages 3. While the coating removing part of the optical fiber bundle is welded by microburners 8 in this state, the stretching stage 7 is driven to move a pair of the moving stages 3 in the directions opposite to each other along guide rails 4 to stretch the welded part. As a result, the coupling part having a tapered shape of the diameter decreasing toward the center from both sides is formed in the stretched and welded part. The cartridge 2 with which the formation of the coupling part is completed is removed and the fresh cartridge 2 already held with the optical fiber bundle is set on the stretching stage 7. The stages are then repeated. |
