PURPOSE:To provide a zinc oxide powder free from the generation of composition deviation caused by evaporation and volatile loss at the time of using it as a raw material for a magnetic oxide powder, and the magnetic oxide powder excellent in dispersibility and high in surface activity and to provide a producing method of these zinc oxide powder and magnetic oxide powder. CONSTITUTION:The zinc oxide powder is an element constituting the magnetic oxide powder and is coated with an oxide of an element having lower vapor pressure than zinc oxide. The zinc oxide powder is produced by forming an organic fatty acid metallic salt compound containing at least one or more kinds of iron, nickel, manganese and magnesium on the surface of the zinc oxide powder and heat-treating them. And the magnetic oxide powder contains the coated zinc oxide powder and is produced by dispersing the coated zinc oxide powder in a solution of a water soluble compound of element of at least one or more kinds of iron, nickel, manganese and magnesium and thermally decomposing the dispersed suspension or calcining a powder obtained by spraying the suspension. |
