PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of an image defect by keeping the surface of an electrifying roller clean over a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a cleaning member 22 so that it can move along the surface of the electrifying roller 2, in the direction of an arrow C. The device is further provided with a cleaning member reciprocating mechanism 30 using a cam 33 which reciprocates the cleaning member 22 in the direction of the arrow C in a reciprocating period differing from the rotating period of the electrifying roller 2. The surface of the electrifying roller 2 is powerfully cleaned by rubbing the cleaning member 22 against the surface of the electrifying roller 2 in the direction of the rotation and, at the same time, reciprocating it in the direction of the arrow C. Because the rotating period and the reciprocating period are made differ, the contact part between the cleaning member 22 and the electrifying roller 22 is not the same in each period, therefore high cleaning effect can be obtained. |
