PURPOSE:To provide a luminaire for which the efficiency of a single-ended discharge lamp is improved. CONSTITUTION:A luminaire main body 3 comprises a base part 3a and a shade 3b. A lamp socket 2 is stored in the base part 3a. The shade 3b is formed into a circular bowl with the under surface opened by means of an opaque member. An adjoining conductive plate 9 made of metal plate and the like is arranged in the vicinity and along a single-ended discharge lamp 1 in the shade 3b. A gap consisting of a plurality of holes 10... is provided on the adjoining conductive plate 9. An opening part 3c is provided on the upper surface of the shade 3b opposing to the adjoining conductive plate 9, and the opening part 3c is closed with a diffusing translucent plate 11. Since a plurality of holes 10 are provided on the adjoining conductive plate 9, most of the light radiated above from the single-ended discharge lamp 1 passes through these holes 10..., and is diffused above the luminaire main body 3 and emitted by means of the diffusing translucent plate 11 arranged on the upper surface of the shade 3b forming the luminaire main body 3. |
