Multicomponent pellets of barrier resin and compatibilizer for making laminar articles

Multicomponent pellets are disclosed comprising a heterogeneous blend of a barrier resin, typically a condensation polymer, and a compatibilizer. A process for making such laminar articles by blending the pellets with a polyolefin is also disclosed. The pellets advantageously prevent segregation of the barrier resin and the compatibilizer during processing, which provides uniform, reproducible laminar articles with improved barrier properties and mechanical properties. Laminar shaped articles and multilayer structures made from the multicomponent pellet are also disclosed.
