The connector comprises two plates (12,13) which are adjustable in relation to each other by clamping screws. Radial recesses (23-30) with parallel supporting surfaces are formed in them to accommodate the barn. At the outermost portion, one or both plates have cross-sections (35,36) tapering steadily towards the middle. Where the plates have cylindrical outer surfaces, their outer end faces (37,38) can be concave-curved. These end faces can have peripheral corrugations machined in them, and whose ridges are concentric to the bars to be clamped in place, while their valleys extend radially in relation to the clamping screws.
