1,225,060. Safety razors. GILLETTE CO. 10 Oct., 1968 [26 Oct., 1967], No. 48106/68. Heading B.B. A magazine 12 for fitting into a holder 10 comprises a ribbon blade 22 movable over a supporting platform 24 from a supply position 20 by means of a take-up arbor 28, the blade passing through inlet and outlet channels leading to and from the platform, at least one channel having a raised surface 104 arranged to increase the stress on the cutting edge of the blade as the magazine is inserted into the holder thereby maintaining the rear edge of the blade against a reference surface (60, Fig. 4). The magazine 12 is formed with a base-member 14 and a clip-on front cover 16, the take-up arbor 28 and supply position 20 being provided in the base. The front cover 16 is formed with tapered surfaces 44, 50 and 104 which cause the front edge of the blade to be bent upwardly as it passes below the supporting platform and thereby cause the operative portion of the blade above the platform to be curved away therefrom. When the magazine is inserted into the holder 10, a lip 82 formed on a web 84 is pressed against the curved blade portion by means of a latch 92, Fig. 1, so as to flatten the curved portion against the platform and, at the same time, urge the rear edge of the blade against the reference surface 60.
|
