[Also in Division H1] In a method of manufacturing an optoelectrical semi-conductor device comprising an insulating plastics foil having electrically active grains 3 embedded therein, said grains protruding free of the insulating plastics material 4 on at least one side of the foil, an electrode 7 being present on at least said one side of the foil, the foil is formed by embedding the grains in a polyester and exposing grain surface parts by superficial etching of the polyester with the aid of an alcoholic lye solution, after which electrode material such as indium and gold is applied. The plastics material is polyurethane and the grains are silicon, silicon carbide, cadmium sulphide, cadmium selenide or lead sulphide. The alcoholic lye solution used to etch the plastics to expose the grains consists of a 5% by weight potassium hydroxide solution in ethanol. The device may be a photo-diode, photo-resistor, solar cell or P-N light source.</p> |
