Several of the plates arranged parallel to one another are positioned on a type carrier which is fixed on a support movable transverse to the direction of transport of the paper roll strip between two end positions. The electromagnets are energised only in the two end positions of the support. The support is moved automatically by a lever drive actuated by a cam powered via a worm gear by the motor for the paper cutter. The electromagnets act on the type bolts and are energised using two condensers. The printer is used to apply e.g. the printing date on the reverse of the copy paper.
