Process for operating fluidised bed reactor

Process for operating a fluidised bed reactor comprises blowing gaseous gasifying agent reaction with C at elevated temp. exothermically and endothermically into the reaction chamber (2) of the reactor which is divided into a fluidised bed (3), to which is added an approx. constant amt. of fresh charge material (6), over a required time period and a post gasification zone (4) above the fluidised bed. The zone (4) is connected to a cyclone (18) in which a small amt. of solid carried out together with the crude gas from the zone (4) is removed from the crude gas and recycled to the fluidised bed, below which a bottoms prod. (36) is removed from the reaction chamber. Within the reqd. time period, the amt. of exothermically reacting gasifying agent corresp. to the amt. of recycled solids is blown in. The O2 ratio is adjusted to <= 1.5, and the bottoms prod. is withdrawn corresp. to the height of the fluidised bed. The gasifier (1) used in the above process is also claimed.
