Printing control field formation system

The system is used to provide a control field (2) with a defined surface coverage, by digital generation of the control field, transferred in analogue form to the surface of the carrier material (1). The surface coverage of the analogue control field is measured and the surface coverage value is recorded alongside the control field in a machine-readable format. Pref. the carrier material is positioned beneath a densitometer (3), or a video camera, coupled to an image processor, for measuring the surface coverage of the control field.
