The device is used to release a friction clutch in a vehicle. It has an operable release sleeve, which on at least one side lies permanently against the inner edge of a membrane spring aligned to the clutch, via an actuating ring. The actuating ring (4) has projections (5,11) extending on both sides of the inner edge (7), of which one (5) lies permanently on one side (9) of the inner edge and the other (11) lies on the other side (19) via intermediate switching of an elastic medium.
