Motor vehicle door lock

The lock mechanism has at one end (3) an outer operating lever (6) working in conjunction with a door outer grip (5) and a coupling lever (9) working in conjunction with the outer operating lever. The door outer grip has an operating surface (4) which in the operating condition on opening the door transmits the force from the door outer grip to the outer operating lever. Between the outer operating lever and the coupling lever a screw connection arrangement (12) is provided, having pref. a long hole (13), a fixing screw and a tension spring (15). The outer operating lever via the tension spring is tensioned in a direction related to the door outer grip (5).
