A rectilinear motion bearing comprises a member 3 mounted on a shaft 1, for relative longitudinal movement therewith, by means of bearing balls 4 which are disposed between raceways 2 formed in the shaft, and a raceway of hardened metal which is provided with springy projections which engage the member 3 to press the balls into the race. In the member 3 are formed races which communicate with other raceways to form an oval-shaped path, the balls being under load in the race formed by the shaft and the hardened metal, but being unloaded in the race in the member 3. |
