REESTABLISHMENT OF IFN-.GAMMA. INDUCIBILITY OR CONSTITUTIVE EXPRESSION OF MHC CLASS II IN TUMOR CELLS

A process of producing a cancer vaccine against IFN-.gamma. noninducible-MHC-class II tumor cells with otherwise functional MHC class II genes and which are defective at a DNA sequence other than MHC class II genes. The process includes the steps of isolating IFN-.gamma. noninducible tumor cells and then transforming IFN-.gamma. noninducible tumor cells with a DNA sequence controlling the non-MHC class II defect. Once transformed, the cells are treated with IFN-.gamma., if needed, and an effective amount of the cells or cell membranes administered to a patient to stimulate the patient's immune system against the tumor cells.
