The warning system comprises a combination of a detector unit with one or more sensors for detecting parameters which may have differing values, and an automatic selector for selecting one or more previously set data from a communications network of a corresponding network. The network allows transmission of digitally encoded messages. The coded message is representative of the parameters for which the detector determines that the previously set threshold has been exceeded. The selector may be connected to a mobile telephone.
