Chill mould, for continuous slab casting

The chill mould for continuous casting of slabs (in particular, those with small thickness) consists of two broad and two narrow sides, with the broad sides provided with support structures (1,2) incorporating cooling water connections. The mould is effected by the broad walls (3,4) consisting of sheet metal longitudinally stretched by pulling devices (12) located on the edges of the support elements (1,2) and are furthermore supported within their mid-regions by ribs (8) forming part of the support structures.
