The device has a magnetic sensor (8), particularly a Hall probe sensitive to magnetic direction. The sensor (8) is arranged in the field line loop between a stator (6) and a rotor (7) such that it is located in the position of the gap between the north and south poles of the stator permanent magnets (3,4). Instead of a Hall sensor (8), one or more magnetic field plates can be used to obtain the same effect. A sensor or magnetostrictive material can be arranged in the control loop of the rotor and stator field lines. A field change affects this material so it contracts and can supply a signal in connection with a piezo-crystal or pressure transducer.
