A connector for juxtaposed elements (10, 11) which are provided with laterally elongated holes (12) therethrough, has a shaft (13) with laterally elongated head portion (16) at one end. A rotation blocking member (17) has a washer portion (18) through which the shaft (13) passes, and a blocking portion (22) extending from the washer portion (18). A reaction member preferably a threaded nut (27) engages the end of the shaft (24) opposite the head portion (16). In use, in an assembled position for insertion through the holes (12) of the juxtaposed elements (10, 11), the head portion (16) is disposed in register with the blocking portion (17) on the forward end thereof. Preferably, a spring between (28) the nut (27) and the washer portion (18) tends to retract the shaft (13) relative to the washer portion (18) so that the head portion (16) is lodged in compression on the end of the blocking portion (17). The shaft (13) is rotated to move the head portion (16) out of register with the blocking portion (17) and to engage a side surface of the blocking portion which itself is non-rotatable within the slot (12). The shaft (13) is retracted, preferably with the assistance of the spring (28), and by rotation of the nut (27), to clamp the elements (10, 11) tightly together between the nut (27) and the head portion (16).
